UPDATE:
I appreciate that the young woman who took Dipity was probably acting on a desire to do the right thing. She saw that Dipity was alone in the parking lot. She probably felt outraged that Dipity was in such a dangerous situation. She did not realize that I was just a few meters away...looking for Dip.
It is my sincere hope that she will contact me in some way to let me know that the kitty is safe and well. I would also appreciate it if she would re-consider her decision to take Dipity away.
As she probably knows by now, Dipity is a strong-willed kitty who lets her opinions and desires be known. She really does like to go outside for a bit of a sniff. However, she does not have the outdoor skills to be able to go outside by herself. That is why I drove her to Hawryluck Park (which is dog-free). The coloured outfit was to allow Dipity some freedom of movement (without a leash) with the added safety of visibility. As you probably know by now, Dipity will venture away a bit; but returns when called.
She is an unusual kitty. I was trying my best to enrich her life and, simultaneously, keep her safe. Surely, by now, you know the Dip well enough to realize that she is unique little being with her own special little needs. As outraged as you must have been at first, I am hoping that, by now, your opinion of me has softened.
Please, consider returning her to our family. She is sorely missed. If you return her, I give you my word of honor that no questions will be asked and no negative consequences will follow.
Previous Update:
Dipity's veterinarian called today. Dip's vaccines and anual physical were due on September 15, 2008.
She received vaccinations for:
Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis; Calicivirus and Panleukopenia.
The young woman who took Dipity told witnesses that she was intending to take Dip to a farm. If this is the case, she will need to get vaccines for all the above plus:
Feline Leukemia, Feline AIDS, Feline Infectious Peritonitus, and Rabies.

She should also be de-wormed and given heartworm prevention treatment.
To the girl who took Dipity: PLEASE ENSURE SHE GETS THESE TREATMENTS!!
Please, put this kitty's health before other considerations!
On June 24th, my pet cat was taken. We were out together running errands. Unlike most kitties, Dipity loves to ride in the car. However, she does not especially enjoy waiting in the vehicle.
While I was having a brief business meeting in the Second Cup in South Edmonton Common (99 street and 22 ave), Dipity squeezed herself out of a five inch gap in the window.
I was sitting near the window of the Second Cup and saw her squeeze out. I had parked just a few feet from where I was having my meeting.
Naturally, I started looking for her.
I was worried she would head toward 23rd street, which has heavey traffic; so I started at the north end of the parking lot and crouched down to see under cars and shrubs.
Unfortunately, my cat had gone in the opposite direction.
After several minutes, a man approached me and asked if I was looking for a cat. He then told me that she had been in front of the Boston Pizza and that someone from the restaurant had just driven away with her.
He suggested that I go into the Boston Pizza because they may have spoken with the staff. Two patrons were able to tell me that a young woman between the ages of 17-24 took Dipity .
I was worried, but my cat was wearing both a collar and a dress.
Now, you may disapprove of dressing a cat.
I admit that it is a bit out-of-the-ordinary, but this is an unusual pet.
As I already mentioned, this kitty loves car rides. I should also tell you that she is grey...the same shade of grey as asphalt. Her favorite place is Hawrylak Park. She keeps close to me while we walk and she comes when I call her.
However, I always put safety first. So, I put her in a bright outfit whenever I take her on an outing because it increases her visibility.
Witnesses who spoke to the young woman who took my cat tell me that she tore off the dress and threw it in the garbage.
She also told witnesses that she was intending to take Dipity to a farm.
The people in front of the Boston Pizza all saw my kitty's collar...but they say that they assumed that the girl was going to look at the identification tag and contact the cat's owner.
The witnesses say this young woman was 'acting like she was in a position of authority'.
So, they just assumed that she would be contacting the cat's owner and it would all work out and the cat would be returned to her home.
Days went by, and this young woman never contacted me.
I became concerned because Dipity's collar with identificaiton, and micro-chip are both obvious sources of my contact information.
To this day, I have not received any communication from this young lady.
I think she should know that Dipity does not have rabies shots or other vaccines recommended for rural life. If she did take her to a farm (as she told the witnesses)....this is an unsafe environment for this cat.
The kitty is also terrified of dogs and lacks common outdoor survival skills.
Dipity is a 12 lb. female Maine Coon with a rusty nose, grey fur, and a puffy tail that looks like a feather duster.
Description of the thief:
The young woman is about 5'2" with light brown/dirty blonde, straight, fine, shoulder-length hair. Her figure is slim and petite.
Ways Dipity can be returned:
This cat may be returned to any shelter, the City of Edmonton Pound, or any vets office. All of these facilities can scan the micro-chip and reunite the kitty with her family. Dipity's microchip is from EIDAP chip# 968 000 00342 3808.
